A homeowner with no heat at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday is not a difficult customer. They are a motivated customer. They will take the first slot you have tomorrow morning. They are not price-shopping, they are cold. And if your phone goes to voicemail, they move on to the next number on Google Maps inside of 90 seconds.

That is not a lead-generation problem. That is an answering problem.

Why Voicemail is a Revenue Leak, Not a Customer Service Issue

Most service contractors think about after-hours calls as a customer satisfaction question: "Should we have someone on-call?" What they are actually deciding is how much unbilled revenue they are willing to write off each week.
